Rug Repair
Your rugs will last for centuries when you let River Valley Rug Cleaning preserve or restore your rug.
Many common repairs necessary to preserve and strengthen your rug can be completed in our shop.
If your rug needs reweaving or other restorative measures, we have a network of trusted weavers who will restore your rug using old world weaving techniques and materials.
Since rug repairs vary greatly depending on the scope of the repair and the construction of the rug, we must see the rug and evaluate the repair need.

As time progresses, your carpet experiences wear and tear which causes structural damage and repairs may need to be made. Here at River Valley Rug Cleaning, we know exactly what your rug needs.
The most common areas that need repair are the edges and fringe. In some rug weaving regions, it is common to attach the side cord after the rug is taken off the loom. This type of weaving practice means the edges are more fragile and much more susceptible to separation from the rug. We can reattach the side cord to prevent further damage or replace the entire side cord if necessary. The side cord can also become exposed from wear and a small repair could prevent a larger problem.
We can also replace worn and damaged fringe. It is important to remember that on hand knotted rugs, the fringe is an extension of the foundation of the rug. The entire rug is woven on this foundation. Simply cutting the fringe without securing the ends could leave your rug unraveling. We can secure ends that have lost their fringe and are unraveling but it is best to not let your rug get to that state.
River Valley Rug Cleaning is not your average rug cleaning and repair service. We have been cleaning rugs from around the world for many years, and we employ old world techniques and modern technology that will leave your rugs looking their best.
We prefer to repair rugs with hand stitching, with the same care the rug was woven with. Untrained rug repair shops will use adhesives, glues, and machine stitching to quickly repair your rug with no regard to the value or construction. While we are experienced in these types of repairs commonly used on machine tufted and other low quality rugs, they are not suitable for valuable hand made rugs.
